Women as Futurists
How do we empower our young women for a future in STEM?
The forth wave of the industrial revolution is well underway and the future of work is changing dramatically. We as educators have a responsibility to equip students with skills for jobs of the future. Australian businesses will require employees with skills in science, technology and engineering, therefore increasing female engagement and participation in STEM areas is a school and public priority. Education and commercial institutions across South Australia are heavily investing in new programs for girls, with the singular goal of creating a new generation of influential STEM leaders. The Girls in STEM Showcase will provide the opportunity to collaborate across schools and offer practical insight into contemporary strategies, pedagogy and classroom practices.
The Showcase will offer:
- Interactive workshops sharing best practice, strategies and programs proven to engage and retain girls in STEM
- Keynote speaker focusing on futurism and empowering women for a future in STEM
- Group discussions around the strategies, implementation and partnerships across schools.
