This term students are looking into their beliefs about learning. The aim of this is to increase students’ understanding and awareness of concepts critical to successful learning at the ASMS. Students will look at beliefs that have about themselves and about intelligence and knowledge that may be impacting on their learning. This module provides a basic introduction to the concepts listed below and is aimed at students new to the ASMS. The Neuroscience of Learning module acts as an extension of this module.

This module focuses on these key concepts

  • Fixed vs Growth mindset
  • Attributions and internal locus of control
  • Self-directed learning including self-efficacy, self-handicapping
  • Extrinsic and intrinsic motivation

The evening will look at people’s own Beliefs about Learning and look more closely at how these might impact their lives and that of their childrens’.
